Sembalun Route is closed every Friday, according to the agreement between the Mount Rinjani National Park Hall and Sembalun community leaders after holding a meeting related to synchronization between Local Wisdom and Mount Rinjani National Park Hall. This was stated in a circular posted by the Gunung Rinjani National Park Office through its Facebook and Twitter account on Thursday, June 20, 2019.
In the letter signed by the head of Sudiono Mountain Rinjani National Park, it was explained that according to the request of the community and community leaders Sembalun not to climb to Mount Rinjani every Friday so that the Mount Rinjani National Park Hall decided to close the Sembalun Trail every day Friday and for tourists who want to climb on Friday, they have to choose other alternatives such as the Senaru Trekking Route, the Timbanuh Trekking Trail, and the Aik Berik Climbing Route.
The decision was taken by the Gunung Rinjani National Park Hall to respect the local wisdom or awig awig agreed upon by the community together with the existing figures based on the beliefs and local wisdom that was applied.
Therefore, visitors who have planned to trek to Mount Rinjani on Friday should change their climbing schedule, especially for those who have chosen Sembalun Trekking route.
