Mount Rinjani or Gunung Rinjani is an active volcano in Indonesia on the island of Lombok. Administratively the mountain is in the Regency of North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (Indonesian: Nusa Tenggara Barat, NTB). It rises to 3,726 meters (12.224 ft), making it the second highest volcano in Indonesia.

On the top of the volcano is a 6-by-8.5-kilometer (3.7 by 5.3 mi) caldera, the which is filled partially by the crater lake known as Segara Anak or Anak Laut (Child of the Sea) due to the blue color of water lake as Sea (Sea). Best time for trekking

The best time for doing trek at the Crater Rim or even to Rinjani Mountain is from April until December, the weather at that period is very nice and clear. The most climbers are coming to Senaru or sembalun is in around July, August and December. If you decide for doing trek in a good season, so you can do it starting on around April until the end of the year (December).

From government rule trekking season is close from beginning of January until the end of March cause of a bad weather also it is beginning of rain in Indonesia. After the big earthquake July 2018 some parth of the trek on Rinjani is broken due the landslide and unaccessable for while (the trail down from crater rim Senaru to the lake is closed and the trail down from crater rim Sembalun to the lake is unsafe). If you want to summit and lake then choose Sembalun or if just to the crater rim Senaru, then choose Senaru.
